230692 "And the Oscar goes to...": Cultural and Literary Studies Aspects of Film Analysis (S) (SoSe 2026)

Contents, comment

In this course students will examine a selection of critically-acclaimed films through the lens of various critical literary and cultural theories. A particular focus will be placed on film theory and aesthetics while simultaneously engaging with other, perhaps more familiar, schools of thought such as Marxist, Feminist, Queer and Postcolonial theories. The aim of the course is to engage with the intersections of different theories and how the application of these scholarly tools (possibly) differs in the study of film compared to the study of the writtern word.
