Der von Schatzki 2001 diagnostizierte 'practice turn in contemporary theory' ereilt seit geraumer Zeit auch die erziehungswissenschaftliche Forschung und Theoriebildung. Er verspricht einen neuen Blick auf das Soziale und damit auch auf Bildungs- und Erziehungsphänomene. So konnten die sog. neueren Praxistheorien auch für die Auseinandersetzungen mit Differenzphänomen in der Migrationsgesellschaft fruchtbar gemacht werden. In diesem Seminar sollen zunächst die Grundbegriffe und -gedanken der neueren Praxistheorien erarbeitet und diskutiert werden, um dann anhand empirischer Studien zu einem Zugang zu Differenzkonstruktionen im Feld der Kindertagestätte und (Grund-)Schule zu gelangen.
