Second language acquisition research has undergone multiple „turns“ in the last 30 years: the communicative and intercultural turn, the social and sociocultural turn, the bi- and multilingual turn, and now, with globalization, the ecological and the complexity theoretical turn. This course will acquaint students with recent theoretical trends in the field of SLA/Applied Linguistics and show on concrete examples what these developments mean for the teaching of foreign languages in institutional settings.
