Comics und Graphic Novels sind längst nicht mehr nur populärkulturelle Randerscheinungen, sondern etablierte Formen literarischen Erzählens. Dieses Seminar nähert sich den grafisch-literarischen Texten aus literaturwissenschaftlicher Perspektive. Gemeinsam analysieren wir Erzählstrategien, visuelle Gestaltungsmittel und semiotische Strukturen der multimodalen Texte und untersuchen deren ästhetisches Potenzial im Hinblick auf Themen wie bspw. Identität und Differenz.

Ziele des Seminars sind:
• Grundlagen der Comic-Analyse und multimodaler Narration zu erarbeiten
• zentrale Begriffe und Analysewerkzeuge (u.a. nach McCloud, Abel & Klein) kennenzulernen
• die Rolle von normativen Ordnungen im Comic dargestellt zu reflektieren
• ausgewählte Werke kritisch zu untersuchen

Die Literatur wird im Seminar bekannt gegeben.
