Datenbasis für die im Seminar vorgestellten statistischen Analyseverfahren und Berechnungen sind Daten, die im Rahmen der PISA Studie 2008 erhoben wurden. Es liegen Daten aus mehr als 50 Ländern vor, auf deren Basis die Einstellung der Schülerinnen und Schüler zu ihrer Schule, ihren Lehrern und zum muttersprachlichen Unterricht international verglichen werden können.
Im Seminar werden grundlegende Methoden der statistischen Analyse sowie deren mathematischen Grundlagen behandelt. Dabei werden neben regressions- und varianzanalytischen Verfahren auch klassifizierende Verfahren wie die Faktorenanalyse vorgestellt.
