209516 Intelligent behaviour in animals and machines (V) (SoSe 2008)

Contents, comment

The lecture concentrates on selected examples showing basic properties of intelligent behaviour beginning with simple and complex reflex-like behaviour. It will be investigated as to how pre-rational intelligence could have been developed. This leads to the question to what extent rational behaviour is performed including the possible contributions of motivations, cognition and subjectivity. All these phenomena cannot be understood without taking modelling approaches into account. Therefore, on all levels we will not only study animal behaviour, but also simulations of such behaviour using artificial system like robots.
