Das Seminar erörtert den historiographischen und systematischen Ertrag der Geschlechtergeschichte für die Analyse und das Verständnis der modernen Geschichte. Wir diskutieren, welche Fragen die Geschlechtergeschichte seit ihren Anfängen in den 1970er Jahren aufgeworfen hat, wie sie ihre Perspektiven verändert haben und was das jeweils für unsere Erkenntnisse über moderne Geschichte bedeutet. Exemplarisch ausgewählte Themen können Kolonialgeschichte, Rüstung / Wettrüsten, Medizin, Sexualität, Bildung oder Familienkonstellationen betreffen.
