Wer reiste in der römischen Antike und Spätantike, was waren die Gründe für Reisen, gab es bereits touristisches Reisen, was waren die Reisemittel, welche Orte in der damals bekannten Welt suchte man (vorzugsweise) auf, wie stand es um die damalige Kartographie – und welchen Niederschlag hat das Reisen der Römer in der zeitgenössischen Literatur gefunden? All diesen Fragen wird das Seminar in einem literatur- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Ansatz entsprechend nachgehen.
