Das Seminar behandelt die gesellschaftliche Umbruchperiode der BRD, die mit der Studierendenbewegung von 1968 und der Reformpolitik der Großen Koalition (1966-1969) begann. Sie untersucht die umfassenden Gesellschaftsplanungen der 1970er Jahre, die wirtschaftliche Zäsur der Ölpreiskrise von 1973/74, die Pluralisierung der Gesellschaft durch die ntstehung neuer soziokultureller Milieus und den Wandel des Politischen. Sie beschäftigt sich mit der Fage, ob die Regierung Kohl (ab 1982) eine neoliberale oder neokonservative "Wende" der Politik einleitete und wie sie auf die unerwartete Chance der Wiedervereinigung reagierte.
