Ayers Buch „ Sprache, Wahrheit, Logik // Language, Truth and Logic” (erstmals 1936) ist ein klassisches Werk der frühen analytischen Philosophie. Ayer unternimmt mithilfe von Sprachphilosophie und Logik einen Generalangriff auf die klassische Metaphysik und entwickelt einen konsequent empiristischen Blick auf Aufgabe, Reichweite und Instrumentarium der Philosophie.

Wir wollen im Seminar Ayers Buch studieren und diskutieren. Dabei werden so unterschiedliche Fragen zu erörtern sein wie die, was Philosophie eigentlich tut, worauf a priori Wissen beruht, was Naturgesetze sind, wie Wahrnehmung funktioniert und was Bedeutung ausmacht.

Wir werden im Seminar die englische und deutsche Ausgabe parallel betrachten. Es wird empfohlen, die englische Ausgabe zu lesen.
