Wer war Jesus von Nazareth? Die Frage nach dem historischen Jesus hat ihren festen Platz im Theologiestudium – und doch ist sie nicht selbstverständlich. In diesem Seminar werden wir uns damit beschäftigen, warum wir die Frage nach dem historischen Jesus stellen und welche Relevanz sie für unsere eigene theologische Arbeit hat. Dazu werden wir einen theologie- und geistesgeschichtlichen Streifzug durch das 19. Jahrhundert unternehmen, in dem sich die historische Jesusforschung als ein „Kind der Aufklärung“ entfaltet und durch die historisch-kritische Forschung ihre bis heute gültigen methodischen Grundlagen erhalten hat.
