261032 Political Philosophy (S) (WiSe 2007/2008)

Contents, comment

This course is intended to provide you with an introduction to the field of political philosophy. Each week, we will read and discuss one classic paper in contemporary political thought, including readings from Rawls, Nozick, Sandel, Dworkin, and others. The preliminary set of topics to be discussed is: (1) methodological individualism, (2) democracy, (3) justice, (4) rights, and (5) liberty. Most of the readings will be taking from: Contemporary Political Philosophy: An Anthology, Goodin and Pettit, eds. The course will be conducted in English.

Eine Leistungsbescheinigung (BA- oder Master of Education-Studiengang) wird für mehrere kleine Beiträge, die zum Semesterbeginn erläutert werden, ausgestellt.
Ein Leisungsnachweis (Magister- oder Lehramts-Studiengang) wird ausgestellt für eine Hausarbeit.

Requirements for participation, required level

Gründlich vorbereitete Teilnahme an jeder Sitzung des Semesters. Bereitschaft zur Übernahme eines Referates.

Bibliography

Literatur wird zu Beginn des Semesters in Form eines Readers oder einer Kopiervorlage zur Verfügung gestellt.
