The relationship between proximity and distance is an important topic for research practice. The distance of the researcher from the object of research is often seen as the basis for independent, i.e. 'good' research. In reality, however, we bring many unquestioned assumptions into our research, which unwittingly flow into the research process and have an impact on the analysis. In the Methods Class, we want to face this challenge and try out different approaches to self-reflection.
On the first meeting of the class we will discuss the texts provided in the ‘Lernraum’. On the second meeting we will discuss how to apply the gained insights into self-reflection to our own research projects.
The texts all participants have to read very carefully are available in the ‘Lernraum’. Participants should bring a web-enabled device (tablet or laptop) for writing and up- and downloading documents in the 'Lernraum'.
