This seminar provides a survey of traditional topics in Migration Economics dealing with the theory of migration as well as empirical methods and findings. The first part of the class will take the form of lectures covering such topics as selection into migration, the impact of immigration on the labour markets in sending and receiving countries as well discrimination of ethnic minorities. The second part of the class includes presentations by students dedicated to further topics such as entrepreneurial skills of immigrants, their innovation potential and the impact of immigration on public finances in selected developed economies.
