230372 Speech perception and processing (S) (SoSe 2025)

Contents, comment

In the fascinating field of speech perception research, there is still much on-going debate and many questions remain open. In this course, we will discuss some major issues relating to speech perception and processing. We will look at some of the different findings and discuss how researchers have interpreted these findings. Through readings, discussions and weekly exercises, students will develop an idea for a new experiment or study to follow up on the ideas discussed during the course. It is not required to actually carry out an experiment for this course, but the research plan should be developed in detail. Towards the end of the course, students will present their research plan. As a group, we will ask questions after each presentation to help the presenter further develop their research plan. At the end of the course, students will write a short research report in the style of a brief conference proceedings paper.
