230367 Erinnern und Vergessen; Das Gedächtnis in Kulturtheorie, Literatur und Film (S) (WiSe 2007/2008)

Die Phänomene "Erinnern und Vergessen" stehen am Schnittpunkt so unterschiedlicher Disziplinen wie Hirnforschung, Geschichte, Politik und Kulturtheorie und haben in den letzten 20 Jahren zu einer Vielzahl von Forschungsarbeiten geführt. Das Seminar verfolgt eine doppelte Perspektive. Zum einen möchte es einen kurzen Überblick vermitteln über Theorien des kulturellen Gedächtnisses, Thesen zum Verhältnis zwischen kollektivem und individuellem Erinnern (Stichwort: jüngere deutsche Geschichte), aktuelle Perspektiven der Hirnforschung sowie Überlegungen zur Identitätskonstruktion durch erinnerndes Schreiben. Für diesen Teil des Seminars ist die Lektüre umfangreicher theoretischer Texte notwendig, die in einem Reader bereitgestellt werden. Zum anderen wollen wir vor dem Hintergrund dieser Arbeiten literarische Texte und Filme analysieren, die "Erinnern und Vergessen" nicht lediglich thematisieren, sondern nach ästhetischen Möglichkeiten suchen, diese Phänomene darzustellen (Stichwort: Reflexivität des Erzählens, Visualisierung von Gedächtnisprozessen).

Im Seminar interpretieren wir u.a. folgende literarische Texte: Walter Benjamin: Berliner Kindheit um neunzehnhundert; Monika Maron: Pawels Briefe: Eine Familiengeschichte; Uwe Timm: Rot: Roman sowie Auszüge aus verschiedenen "Alzheimer-Romanen".

Zu den behandelten Filmen, für die es voraussichtlich gesonderte Sichttermine gibt, gehören Letztes Jahr in Marienbad (R Alain Resnais, F/I 1960) und Memento (R Christopher Nolan, USA 2000).
