Diese Veranstaltung setzt sich mit Schule als Institution (in der Gesellschaft, im Bildungssystem und als Einzelinstitution), der Qualität von Unterricht und den Anforderungen, die an die LehrerInnen gestellt werden, auseinander. Von Ihnen, den TeilnehmerInnen, erwarten wir (die Dozentin Anne Köker und die Tutorin Betül Akdemir) ein Interesse daran, sich das Berufsfeld LehrerIn unter verschiedenen Aspekten und aus diversen Perspektiven zu erarbeiten, die Bereitschaft, das Seminar aktiv mitzugestalten und sich reflektierend mit Ihrer eigenen Person und "Schulgeschichte" auseinander zu setzen.
Sie erhalten auch wesentliche Einblicke in das wissenschaftliche Arbeiten und die Portfolioarbeit. Die Seminarstruktur beinhaltet eine Zusammenarbeit in Stammgruppen.

Die Seminarstruktur beinhaltet eine Zusammenarbeit in Stammgruppen, in denen und durch die relevante Themen erarbeitet und präsentiert werden. Die Bescheinung einer erbrachten Leistung erfolgt, wenn die Teilnahme an dieser Stammgruppe regelmäßig, verlässlich, engagiert und produktiv gewesen ist. Dieses wird nicht nur durch die Seminarleitung (Dozentin und Tutorin), sondern auch durch die weiteren Gruppenmitglieder beurteilt.
