Unter Begriffen wie „Quantify Yourself“ oder „Lifelogging“ hat der Trend zur digitalen Erfassung und Auswertung körperbezogener Daten für Aufmerksamkeit gesorgt. Vor allem in Fragen der gesunden Lebensführung erfreuen sich die neuen Möglichkeiten zur Selbstvermessung großer Beliebtheit. Sportler protokollieren ihre Laufstrecken und Trainingseinheiten, Ab- und Zunehmwillige ihre Mahlzeiten und Kalorienzufuhr, chronisch überarbeitete Angestellte ihr Arbeitspensum und Aufschiebeverhalten — für viele gesundheitsrelevante Aktivitäten im privaten wie beruflichen Alltag stehen Anwendungen und mobile Applikationen für Smartphones und Tablets zur Verfügung. Im Seminar wird diese Bereitschaft zur Selbstverdatung zum Thema gemacht. Dazu sollen nicht nur einschlägige Texte gelesen und diskutiert, sondern auch kleine empirische Arbeiten durchgeführt werden.
