300640 BA Colloquium Sociolology and Anthropology of the Global World (Ko) (SoSe 2025)

Contents, comment

In this colloquium, BA students can present and discuss research proposals or chapters of your theses. The topic of your research should fall under the broad area of sociology and anthropology of the global world. Works are welcome in but not limited to topics such as migration and mobility, informal economy, globalization, social inequalities (e.g. along class, gender, age), development, care and welfare. Depending on the number of students, research projects that are related to each other will be grouped together. You can present your work in either German or English. You will be required to circulate your text (proposal, thesis or chapters) at least three days before the date of your presentation and attend your classmates' presentations as much as you can. The aim is for each participant to have 30-45 minutes to present and discuss their on-going work. The colloquium will take place in a number of blocks. Specific time schedule will be available once the number of presenters is established.

The colloquium is suitable for those working on their BA theses.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.


This is an opportunity for you to practice presenting your work to an audience and gathering feedback from your peers and the convenor to improve your work. Participation will not be given study credits.

In order to be given a presentation slot, you need to submit a short abstract or sketch of your presentation (along with title/name and degree) by April 7th as confirmation of your commitment.
