Mit der Wiederwahl Donald J. Trumps stellen sich viele Fragen zum zukünftigen Auftreten der Vereinigten Staaten in der internationalen Politik. Die Übung befasst sich mit den Akteuren, Prozessen und Strukturen der Außenpolitik der USA und bietet Studierenden dadurch die Möglichkeit, die historische und aktuelle Rolle des Landes in der Weltpolitik zu diskutieren. Sie gliedert sich in drei Abschnitte: Der erste Abschnitt präsentiert verschiedene theoretische Ansätze und bietet einen historischen Überblick über die US-amerikanische Außenpolitik. Der zweite Abschnitt behandelt verschiedene Akteure und Prozesse, die für deren Formulierung und Umsetzung eine Rolle spielen. Im dritten Abschnitt schließlich widmen wir uns verschiedenen aktuellen Themengebieten – u.a. den US-China Beziehungen, dem Verhältnis von Gender und US-Außenpolitik sowie dem Thema Technologien.
