Die Psycholinguistik ist eine Synthese von Linguistik und Kognitiver Psychologie. Die Linguistik beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, wie die Struktur der Sprache(n) beschaffen ist und die Kognitive Psychologie mit der Frage, wie wir Menschen komplexe Repräsentationen verarbeiten. Da die Sprache a) aus komplexen Repräsentationen aufgebaut ist und b) für unsere Kommunikation und deswegen für das Überleben essenziell ist, ist die Psycholinguistik eines der Kernfächer der Kognitionspsychologie. Sie ist auch ein unverzichtbarer Bestandteil der Linguistik und der Klinischen Linguistik. In dieser Veranstaltung werden Themen behandelt wie Worterkennung, Parsing, Sprachverstehen, Sprachproduktion sowie der Zusammenhang zwischen Sprache und Kommunikation.
