Judith Butler is a very influential contemporary philosopher and social theorist. Her writings are widely recognised both in different academic disciplines and in public debates. While her thought was initially associated with questions of gender studies it became very fast clear that she addresses a wide range of questions such as racial discrimination, war, religion and critical theory in general in equal measure.
All here writings have a strong interest in processes of social and political emancipations in common. The aim of the seminar is simply to read – or perhaps reread – Judith Butler’s writings with a special focus on these political dimensions.
