Fürstenhöfe, Universitäten, Amtsverwaltungen, Klöster und Zünfte sind historische Institutionen, anhand denen sich unterschiedliche Formalisierungsvorgänge beobachten lassen. Zugleich kann nicht einfach vorausgesetzt werden, dass es sich bei historischen Organisationen und ihren gesellschaftlichen Umwelten um primär funktional ausdifferenzierte Phänomene handelt. Wie erforscht man also einen Gegenstand, der sich in seiner Ausdifferenzierung oder auch Entdifferenzierung befindet?
Das Seminar widmet sich dieser Forschungsfrage schrittweise. In einem ersten Teil wird in die theoretisch-analytischen Grundlagen einer Historischen (Organisations)Soziologie eingeführt. Zweitens werden einschlägige, empirische Einsichten zu historischen Organisationen der Frühen Neuzeit, des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts sowie der Zeitgeschichte diskutiert. Auf der Grundlage des empirischen und theoretischen Forschungsstandes wird schließlich drittens gefragt, welche zukünftigen Perspektiven sich einer Soziologie historischer Organisationen bieten.
Insgesamt werden in jedem Schritt soziologische und geschichtswissenschaftliche Analysen miteinander verbunden und kontrastiert. Das Seminar setzt in diesem Sinne organisationstheoretische Vorkenntnisse sowie das Interesse an historischen Fallstudien voraus. Es werden keine Referate gehalten, sondern Texte anhand von Leitfragen analysiert.

Für die Bescheinigung der aktiven Teilnahme:
- Physische und geistige Anwesenheit bei den Veranstaltungen
- Soziologische und insbesondere organisationssoziologische Grundkenntnisse
- Freude an der Lektüre und Vorbereitung (organisations-)soziologischer Fachtexte sowie Artikel aus den Massenmedien (Tagespresse, Magazine, Blogs)
- Interesse und Engagement bei der Diskussion komplexer Fragestellungen am Text!
- Verfassen von Memos zu 6 Fachtexten, die vor der jeweiligen Sitzung auf Stud.IP hochzuladen sind
Zusätzlich für eine benotete Einzelleistung:
Ihre Hausarbeit steht und fällt mit einer problemorientierten Frage. Inhaltlich weist diese einen erkennbaren Bezug zu den behandelten Seminarthemen und Konzepten auf.
