Das lateinische Verb „curare“ bedeutet sorgen/sich kümmern, zurechtmachen, pflegen, verwalten, behandeln/kurieren, jemandem etwas verschaffen und (Geld) auszahlen. Die Vieldeutigkeit des Begriffs spiegelt sich in der Praxis des Kuratierens, die auf keinem einheitlichen Konzept beruht, sondern sich mittlerweile vielfältig ausdifferenziert hat (u.a. queeres, transkulturelles, digitales Kuratieren). Das Praxisseminar nimmt im Wintersemester das Kuratieren von Ausstellungen methodisch, theoretisch und als Berufsfeld in den Blick, einer Tätigkeit, die häufig von Bild- und Kunstwissenschaftler:innen ausgeübt wird. Wie und was geben Ausstellungen zu sehen, welche Ambivalenzen sind dabei für Konzeption und Wirkung zu berücksichtigen – das werden u.a. Fragen sein, mit denen wir uns beschäftigen. Dazu werden gemeinsam Texte gelesen sowie Ausstellungen unter kuratorischen Gesichtspunkten angesehen und diskutiert. Geplant sind Gespräche mit Kurator:innen der Region.
