291115 Principles of Public International Law (V) (WiSe 2023/2024)

Contents, comment

This class deals with the fundamentals of Public International Law. In addition to the basic questions on the nature and definition of Public International Law, the sources (treaty law, customary law, general principles of law) and actors (states and other subjects of international law) will be addressed. In addition, the main features of the UN system and the international protection of human rights as well as recent developments in international law will be discussed.

The class is taught in English.

It is open to all interested students and does not require prior exposure to international law.

For law students (Staatsexamen), there will be the possibility to take a written exam in German as part of the Schwerpunktbereichsprüfung.
