Was ist Kulturgeschichte der Gewalt? Interdisziplinäre Antworten auf Gewaltereignisse werden gesucht: "bodies in battle". Medial verbreitete Bilder und Erzählungen vom Kampf tragen entscheidend zum Kriegsgeschehen bei. Welche Rolle spielte Gewalt in historischen Gesellschaften – und welchen Bezug hat Gewaltgeschichte zur Bewältigung von Siegen und Niederlagen? Wir richten den Blick auf Gewaltkonflikte und Männlichkeit, auf Erinnerungskultur und Moral, auf Massengewalt und individuelle Abhängigkeitsverhältnisse vom späten Mittelalter bis in die Neuzeit.
