Este seminario propone un recorrido histórico sobre las principales manifestaciones teatrales y festivas en España y América Latina durante el periodo colonial con el fin de comprender las condiciones materiales e ideológicas que atraviesan la práctica teatral.
A partir de la lectura de textos dramáticos, los estudiantes podrán aprender sobre los autores, los temas y los géneros más recurrentes en la dramaturgia colonial, las condiciones materiales del quehacer teatral tanto en la península como en los territorios americanos, y las continuidades – como las rupturas – que se producen entre la metrópolis y las colonias.
Además, este seminario contará con la participación del Dr. Juan Manuel Carmona Tierno de la Universidad de Málaga, experto en el teatro del Siglo de Oro.
