Music is a powerful instrument partaking in the creation and articulation of belonging(s) able to overcome traditional borders. The course focuses on the “imaginary geographies” and mythologizing narratives constructed and widespread through this medium and on the ways in which they produce and are affected by local, (trans)national and global dynamics.
Through the analysis of different empirical cases, by employing a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective, this course will provide new insights into the contribution of music in the construction of identities and its methodological implications.
