Der Dichter Catull gehört zu einer Gruppe von Dichtern, die sich mit einer neuen Art von Dichtung beschäftigten, die v.a. von den alexandrinischen Dichtungsidealen des Kallimachos geprägt wurde.
Catullus polymetrische Gedichtsammlung deckt eine große Reichweiste von Themen ab, denen wir uns im Seminar widmen wollen. Dazu gehören natürlich die Lesbia-Gedichte, Invektiven gegen Politiker und schlechte Dichter, Hozeitslieder sowie das Epyllion.
Im Seminar wollen wir uns zudem mit Catulls persona, seiner Technik, seinem Stil beschäftigen, um herauszufinden, warum er einer der römischen Dichter ist, zu dem man einen relativ einfachen Zugang findet.
