Kurz-, mittel- und langfristiges visuelles Gedächtnis ist für die Ausführung zahlreicher Alltagsaufgaben unerläßlich. .Neurokognitive Forschungsarbeiten (Verhaltens-, Bildgebungs-, Elektrophysiologie- und Patientenstudien) der letzten beiden Dekaden haben unser Wissen über visuelles Gedächtnis substantiell erweitert. In dem Seminar werden aktuelle (englischsprachige) Forschungsarbeiten, die diesen Trend widerspiegeln, vorgestellt und diskutiert. Voraussetzung für eine sinnvolle Teilnahme ist die Kenntnis wesentlicher Inhalte der Vorlesung „Einführung in die neurokognitive Psychologie“ (Modul X.2).

Das Seminar richtet sich an B.Sc. Hauptfachstudierende, die das Anwendungsfach IV „Neurowissenschaften“ gewählt haben. Kenntnisse der wesentlichen Inhalte der Vorlesungen X.1 (Einführung in die Neuropsychologie) und X.2 (Einführung in die Neurokognitive Psychologie) werden vorausgesetzt.
