Wenn etwas die "analytische" Philosophie charakterisiert, dann ist es vermutlich die Betonung der Analyse. Was die analytische Philosophie, wie sie von Frege und Russell begründet wurde, charakterisiert, ist die Rolle, die logische Analyse spielt, welche von der Entwicklung der modernen Logik abhing. Obwohl andere und spätere Formen der Analyse, wie z. B. linguistische Analyse, weniger stark an die Systeme von formaler Logik gebunden sind, bleibt die zentrale Einsicht, die logische Analyse motiviert, bestehen: um philosophische Probleme zu lösen, muss man erst einmal die Probleme selbst sprachlich-formal aufarbeiten.
In diesem Seminar werden wir diese Grundideen gemeinsam nachvollziehen, indem wir Texte von Frege und Texte von Russell lesen und gemeinsam diskutieren.
Dabei werden wir verstehen, was es mit logischer Analyse auf sich hat, und lernen, solche Analysen selbst herzustellen. Wir werden nebenbei grundsätzliche sprachphilosophische Ansätze, Begriffe und Argumente kennenlernen, über das Wesen von Mathematik reden, und die Erfindung der modernen Logik bezeugen.
