Digital transformations in the past two decades have had a profound impact on modern society across diverse domains such as commerce, family, politics, or policing, to name just a few. For better or worse, buying, selling, and reviewing products, finding partners, connect with friends, engaging in political protest, investigating crimes, or any other activity for that matter, are inextricably entwined with digital technologies. These changes have not gone unnoticed in sociology, where they are nowadays a popular object of research. The goal of the course is to introduce students to some of the key sociological conceptualizations of digitalization and to discuss the findings of several important studies.
