Teaching Specific Domains of English Language Competence (GS) focuses on the different aspects of language competence, mainly the four skills listening, speaking, reading and writing. We will in this regard also take a look at how to teach grammar and vocabulary at elementary level. We will consider appropriate teaching techniques and examine school books and other relevant material designed for young learners regarding the four skills.
Please get familiar with the current curriculum for Grundschule in NRW and the elementary school course-books.

It is recommended to take this course after completing the Introduction to English Teaching Methodology-course.

Active participation is required by all members. Those who need 3 LP there will have to hand in a portfolio. For those who need 5 LP there is the possibility to write a term-paper regarding any of the topics we covered in this class.
