Die Grundfrage dieses Seminars ist, ob es eine internationale Geschichtstheoriediskussion gibt oder ob sich nur verstreute Aussagen zur Geschichtstheorie finden lassen, die aber weitestgehend unabhängig nebeneinander stehenbleiben.
Um sich einer Antwort auf dieser Frage zu näher werden in dieser Veranstaltung internationale Blogbeiträge zur Geschichtstheorie auf dem Blog "Geschichtstheorie am Werk" (die Beiträge sind in der Regel immer entweder in Englisch oder Deutsch verfügbar) zunächst hinsichtlich ihrer geschichtstheoretischen Grundannahmen befragt werden. Auf dieser Grundlage werden die Beiträge und Kommentare dann miteinander in Beziehung gesetzt, um festzustellen, ob und wenn ja, welche Bezüge sich unter den Beiträgen finden lassen. Bestenfalls läuft diese Analyse dabei darauf hinaus, dass die Teilnehmer*innen der Veranstaltung sich selbst mit Kommentaren oder Blogbeiträgen in die zuvor analysierte geschichtstheoretische Debatte einbringen können.
