Das Seminar steckt sich das Ziel, den Stellenwert des Sports im nationalsozialistischen Deutschland näher zu bestimmen. Hierbei sollen zum einen bedeutsame Sportereignisse wie die Turnfeste 1933 und 1938 oder die Olympischen Spiele 1936, zum anderen aber auch der jeweilige Sportbetrieb in den verschiedenen (NS-)Organisationen wie Schule, Hochschule, HJ, SA etc. rekonstruiert werden. Analytisch besehen wird es dabei immer auch darum gehen, den Sport als bedeutsames Sozialisationsfeld sichtbar zu machen und ihn in den weiteren ideologischen wie sozial-historischen Kontext der Entstehung und Aufrechterhaltung des nationalsozialistischen Herrschaftsgefüges einzuordnen.
