220056 Historisches Vergessen - eine theoretische Annäherung (GST) (WiSe 2021/2022)

Das Abreißen, Umstellen und Ersetzen von Denkmälern, die Zerstörung von Kulturobjekten, die Umbenennung von Straßen- oder Stadtnamen sowie die Neugestaltung bzw. Schließung von Museen sind Teil von Vergessens-Prozessen. Meist begegnen sie uns bei politischen Systemwechseln, in oder nach Kriegen, zu Jubiläen oder bei soziokulturellen Veränderungen. Während erinnerungskulturelle Fragestellungen bzw. Memory Studies in der deutschen Geschichtswissenschaft Hochkonjunktur haben, ist historisches Vergessen, das nicht von vorneherein negativ konnotiert sein muss, bisher eher stiefmütterlich behandelt worden. Theoretische Ansätze in der Geschichtswissenschaft gibt es wenige. Das Seminar wird sich mit verschiedenen theoretischen Ansätzen zum Vergessen aus unterschiedlichen Disziplinen auseinandersetzen und diskutieren, welchen Nutzen sie für die Geschichtswissenschaft haben können, um so ein neues Forschungsfeld zu erschließen.
