Der Autor ist tot – lang lebe der Autor. Nachdem Roland Barthes Ende der 1960er Jahre den Tod des Autors’ verkündete, um Autorpersönlichkeiten ihren Absolutheitsstatus zu nehmen, wagt die Literaturwissenschaft es seit kurzer Zeit wieder, eine zaghafte ‚Rückkehr des Autors’ zu postulieren. Wiedergänger oder Auferstandener, was ist er nun, der Autor?
Jeder Studierende der Geisteswissenschaften lernt spätestes in den propädeutischen Veranstaltungen, dass man generell nie von der Biographie des Autors auf sein Werk schließen darf. Warum bedarf ein literarisches Werk – neben urheberrechtlichen Aspekten – überhaupt eines Autors und warum hat der Rezipient eine ‚biographische Disposition’ dahin, wissen zu wollen, wer einen Text geschrieben hat?
Im Seminar sollen gängige Vorstellungen und Begriffe zur Autorschaft, vom Biographismus hin zum ‚impliziten Autor‘ untersucht werden. Darüber hinaus werden mittelalterliche Autorschaftskonzepte mit ihren modernen Entsprechungen verglichen.
