Die Vorlesung stellt die wichtigsten aktuellen Positionen im Bereich der Filmtheorie vor. Einen Schwerpunkt bildet dabei die Filmnarratologie, welche die Analysemethoden der strukturalistischen Narratologie (Genette) auf das Medium Film anwendet und erweitert. Außerdem werden filmwissenschaftliche Forschungsansätze aus den Gebieten der Fiktionstheorie und der Emotionstheorie behandelt.
