Mit der Begründung der "Interaktionsordnung", dem eigentlichen und genuinen Gegenstand seiner Analysen, etablierte der Soziologe Erving Goffman ein mikrosoziologisches Paradigma, das sich der geradezu mikroskopisch genauen Analyse ebensolcher Situationen und Begegnungen widmet, die unser Alltagshandeln kennzeichnen. Goffman verfremdet diese Situationen so, dass Selbstverständlichkeiten des Alltags unter einem ganz neuen Licht erscheinen, nämlich als sinnhaft interpretierbare Ordnung im Sinne einer "Interaktionsordnung". Das Seminar liefert zunächst eine theoretische Einordnung seines Werkes, anschließend werden ausgewählte Texte aus Goffmans Publikationen gelesen und zentrale Themen und Konzepte hieraus abgeleitet. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt bildet der interdisziplinäre Zugang in Goffmans Werk und dessen Fruchtbarmachung für die Sozial- und Erziehungswissenschaft.
