Im Mittelpunkt des Seminars steht die Diskussion ausgewählter Tagebücher, Briefwechsel und Autoiographien, die während der NS-Herrschaft oder im Anschluss daran verfasst bzw. publiziert wurden. Es sollen dabei Zeugnisse von eindeutig als Täter bzw. Opfer einzustufenden Autor*innen, aber auch solche von Personen gelesen werden, bei denen die Zuordnung weniger klar ist. Untersucht werden die Absichten und möglichen Funktionen des Schreibens, die narrativen Muster und Begriffsverwendungen, die Formen der Verknüpfung von persönlichem Leben und allgemeiner Geschichte, von Privatem und Politischem, von Erfahrungen und Erwartungen über die Systemumbrüche von 1933 und 1945 hinweg. Das Seminar bildet mit der Veranstaltung 220047 (Nietzel) ein Modul.

Erwartet werden regelmäßige Teilnahme und Lesebereitschaft. Von den Studierenden, die im Rahmen des Seminars eine Hausarbeit schreiben wollen, wird erwartet, dass sie sich spätestens bis zur dritten Sitzung aus einer zu Beginn ausgegebenen Themenliste für ein Tagebuch, einen Briefwechsel oder eine Autobiographie entscheiden. Zum Thema der Hausarbeit ist ein Konzeptionspapier zu erarbeiten, das in einer der späteren Seminarsitzungen präsentiert (10-15 min) und diskutiert werden soll.
