230251 Cultural Theory (S) (SoSe 2020)

Contents, comment

Please note: The class will be taught as an online-course in this semester.

The aim of this is to introduce students to a selection of major theories, models and methods of cultural analysis. We will analyse how the term "culture" has been defined, and look at some of the most influential approaches developed over the past decades. Although we will attempt to put the approaches to use in concrete cultural analyses, the class will focus on the reading and discussion of theoretical texts.

Bibliography

All texts will be made available on the Lernraum.
