Ziel der Vorlesung ist zunächst ein erster Überblick zu Inhalt und Bedeutung des Innovations- und Technologiemanagements (ITM) im betrieblichen Leistungserstellungsprozess. Dazu werden Grundbegriffe (wie z.B. Theorie, Technologie, Technik, Invention, Innovation, Imitation, Forschung und Entwicklung) und Klassifikationsschemata für Innovationen (etwa nach Gegenstandsbereich, Dimension, Veränderungsumfang oder Auslöser) erläutert. Darauf aufbauend werden ausgewählte Fragestellungen des Innovationsprozesses behandelt. Thematisiert werden beispielsweise die Technologiedynamik unter Berücksichtigung von Technologielebenszyklusmodellen, die Identifikation relevanter Technologien oder die Analyse geeigneter Innovationsstrategien. Weitere Lehrinhalte betreffen die Produkt- und Prozessplanung von der Ideengenerierung und -auswahl bis zur Projektprogrammplanung sowie die Produkt- und Prozessrealisierung. Schließlich werden die Markteinführung von Neuerungen, innovationswirtschaftliche Erfolgsfaktoren und ausgewählte Themen aus dem ITM, wie etwa organisatorische Aspekte in Forschung und Entwicklung (Organisationsformen, Kooperationen, Personalführung sowie Information und Kommunikation), gewerbliche Schutzrechte und Lizenzen, Forschung und Entwicklung im internationalen Vergleich, Förderungen (inkl. Förderungsinitiativen der Europäischen Union) sowie die Internationalisierung von Forschung und Entwicklung diskutiert.
