Linguistische Korpora gewinnen in Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft immer größere Bedeutung. Sie sind wichtige Ressourcen für die Entwicklung von Sprachtechnologien (z.B. automatische Spracherkennungsprogramme, oder Text-to-Speech Systeme) und dienen der Untersuchung unterschiedlichster Aspekte von Sprachproduktion und -wahrnehmung, z.B. die akustisch-phonetische Realisierung, die Ableitung phonologischer Ausspracheregeln, die Untersuchung von Erst- und Zweitsprachenerwerb, Konversationsanalyse oder die Entwicklung und Überprüfung von Sprachproduktions- und Wahrnehmungsmodellen.
Die Teilnehmer des Kurses lernen die Grundlagen der Korpuserhebung, orthografische Annotation, Signalverarbeitung, Validierung und Dokumentation anhand eines selbst erstellten Korpus. Dabei erhalten sie Einblick in unterschiedliche Annotations- und Sprachanalyseprogramme (ELAN, Praat).

Im Laufe des Seminars entwickeln die Teilnehmer selbständig einen Sprachkorpus, d.h. sie nehmen Sprache auf, protokollieren die Sitzungen, transkribieren die Aufnahmen, entwickeln ein Lexikon, werten die Daten aus und beschreiben den Korpus.
