Der Kurs soll einen Überblick über das gesamte Gebiet der praktischen Philosophie vermitteln. Er stellt die einzelnen Felder in diesem Gebiet, also Moralphilosophie, politische Philosophie, Handlungstheorie und weitere, mit ihren Grundfragen vor Augen und diskutiert beispielhaft einzelne Texte aus diesen Feldern.
Voraussetzung für die Vergabe von 4 Leistungspunkten (BA- und MA ed.-Studiengang) ist die regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme sowie das erfolgreiche Erbringen der benoteten Einzelleistung. Diese Einzelleistung beruht auf einer Mappe von Beiträgen. Diese Mappe kann enthalten: kurze schriftlich ausgearbeitete Diskussionsbeiträge, schriftliche Antworten auf Fragen der Dozenten im Anschluss an den Lehrstoff eines Semesterabschnitts, Protokolle von Diskussionen in der Veranstaltung, ausgearbeitete Vorlesungsmitschriften oder Ähnliches. Der genaue Zuschnitt der Mappe wird zu Beginn des Semesters bekannt gegeben.
