Die Ästhetik der Natur hat eine unruhige Geschichte hinter sich. Im Seminar werfen wir zunächst einen Blick auf diese Geschichte und wenden uns danach aktuelleren Theorien des Naturästhetischen zu. Im historischen Teil befassen wir uns zum Beispiel mit der Idee der Erhabenheit und der des Pittoresken, im systematischen etwa mit der Frage, ob Natur wahrgenommen werden sollte wie Kunst, und der, ob Wissen nötig ist, um Natur ästhetisch wahrzunehmen.

BA-Studiengang: Abschluss des ersten Studienjahres.
Die meisten Texte, die im Seminar behandelt werden, sind in englischer Sprache verfasst. Nichtsdestotrotz ermuntert die Veranstalterin ausdrücklich auch solche Interessenten zu einer Teilnahme, die wegen des Englischen überlegen, von einer Teilnahme abzusehen. Gesprochen wird im Seminar deutsch.

Die im Seminar behandelten Texte werden zu Beginn des Semesters in Form eines Readers zum Selbstkostenpreis oder als Kopiervorlage zur Verfügung gestellt.

Die Anforderungen für den Modulportfolio-Beitrag werden zu Veranstaltungsbeginn bekannt gegeben.
