Mit seinem 'Epischen Theater' hat Bertolt Brecht eine Dramenpoetik und Aufführungspraxis entwickelt, die das Theater grundlegend verändert hat. Dass und in welcher Weise die von Brecht etablierten ästhetischen Verfahren auch für das Verfassen von Prosatexten produktiv gemacht werden können, zeigt die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Werk Uwe Johnson.
Das Seminar widmet sich zunächst der Dramenpoetik Brechts. In einem zweiten Schritt wird danach gefragt, wie Johnsons die Brecht'schen Verfahren für sein eigenes Schreiben nutzt und welche intertextuellen Bezüge zwischen den beiden Autoren auszumachen sind. Gegenstand des Seminars wird auch Johnsons Tätigkeit als Herausgeber von Brechts 'Me-TI. Buch der Wendungen ' sein.
