Es handelt sich um den zweiten Teil einer zweisemestrigen Vorlesung, in der Grundlagen der Logik und Argumentationstheorie vermittelt werden. Während im vergangenen Semester die Grundzüge der formalen Aussagen- und Prädikatenlogik dargestellt wurden, werden in dieser Vorlesung anwendungsbezogene Kenntnisse für die korrekte Begründung von Standpunkten vermittelt.
Neben der Argumentationstheorie wird die Rolle begrifflicher Sorgfalt für philosophisches Argumentation und die Theorie und Praxis des Definierens thematisiert. Darüber hinaus werden typische Formen induktiver Argumente und der Begriff der Wahrscheinlichkeit untersucht.
Die Vorlesung wird von Tutorien begleitet, in denen Übungsaufgaben gestellt und besprochen werden.

Teilnahmevoraussetzungen sind solide formallogische Grundkenntnisse, i.d.R. erworben in der Vorlesung "Logik I" im WS 2009/10.
