392263 ISY Project: Automatic Code Generation for a Cross-Platform Indoor Navigation App (Pj) (SoSe 2019)

Contents, comment

Providing indoor navigation information in large structures such as the facilities at the campus of Bielefeld University is an important prerequisite to assist people in getting around, even more important for people with disabilities. Following this motivation, an mobile app (UniMaps) has been developed by a student team in a software engineering project that is available as an Android prototype. The target of this project is to analyze the applicability of automatic code generation techniques for cross-platform app development such as model-driven software engineering or cross compilation to efficiently support iOS and Android platforms. Hence, the challenges are to analyse which methodology is conceptually and technically feasible that supports all the required features of the target platform and what parts of the overall app are suitable for code generation. The test case and desired outcome of the project is an iOS app for apple devices with large parts of auto-generated code that is easily extensible, portable and provides the same user experience as a native implementation.

A team of participants for this project has already been formed.

Please note that the teams will be selected by the supervisors on the basis of short applications that students are expected to send to them. Registering to the project in the ekVV will only be regarded as expression of interest; it will not secure a team membership. Please get in touch with the supervisors for information on the application procedure.
