Der anthropogene Klimawandel und ökologische Gefahren wie Artensterben, Plastikmüll und die Abholzung von Wäldern gehören zu den wichtigsten und dringlichsten Herausforderungen, denen sich die Weltgesellschaft stellen muss. Auch aus der Perspektive der globalen Sozialpolitik besteht ein Handlungs- und Erklärungsbedarf, dem sich die internationalen Akteure nicht entziehen können. In diesem Seminar untersuchen wir – nach einer Einführung in die Konzepte und Ansätze der globalen Sozialpolitik – wie global agierende Regierungs- und Nichtregierungsorganisationen ihre Interessen im Kontext ökologischer Krisen durchzusetzen versuchen. Dazu betrachten wir bspw. UNFCCC und IPCC, sowie das UN Umweltprogramm, die Weltenergieagentur und Greenpeace. Aus der Sicht der verschiedenen Politikfelder diskutieren wir Entwicklungen in den Bereichen Umwelt und Klima sowie die Reaktionen anderer Politikfelder auf ökologische Probleme wie z.B. in den Bereichen Gesundheit und Migration.
