Wenn in Vietnam selbst Universitätsprofessorinnen im traditionellen Áo Dài Gewand unterrichten oder in Indonesien mitten in den Vorlesungen zu den Gebeten in den Mushola (Gebetsraum) verschwinden, sind das auf den ersten Blick gesellschaftlich kulturelle Praktiken, die sich unterschiedlich theoriegeleitet interpretieren lassen.
In dem Seminar arbeiten wir mit der Theorie der Cultural Studies, um zu untersuchen wie alltägliche Praktiken durch die formale Ausbildung von Schule und Lehrer*innenbildung einverleibt werden. Dazu bedienen wir uns unterschiedlicher Methoden aus Soziologie, Ethnographie und Diskursanalyse, um mit Studierenden und Lehrenden aus Südost Asien und China schulische Praktiken und ihre kulturellen und politischen Auswirkungen zu untersuchen.
Seminarsprache ist zwar deutsch, aber im Austausch mit Personen aus Fernost Asien sind Englischkenntnisse von Vorteil. Der Austausch findet über verschiedene Social-Media statt. Der Lehrende, Dr. Johannes Tschapka, arbeitete und lebte selbst 7 Jahre in Fernost Asien.
